Mill Fenestration

"Helping Revitalize Historic Mills"

Historic Preservation

Boston Sash has always been deeply committed to Historic Preservation.  The Company was formed to make replacement sash originally fabricated by the old New England Yankee Craftsmen.  The Mill revitalization movement is very exciting and we feel blessed to be a part of this preservation program.  Our team is highly motivated, ready and eager to take on the challenges associated with these types of projects.

The Right Product

At Boston Sash & Millwork we have developed a window unit that is second to none for historic mill type applications. We have consulted with Contractors, Developers and Owners to find real solutions for the special challenges that Mill Restoration presents. Armed with that knowledge and our own experience in custom window manufacturing we now provide Mill fenestration products that are:

  • Specifically designed for YOUR mill applications
  • Aesthetically beautiful
  • Historically appropriate
  • Very easy to install and operate
  • Cost effective

Historically Accurate

In 1999 our windows were approved for the New Bedford Public Library.  This required approval not only by the local New Bedford Historical Commission but since the renovation was partially funded by the Massachusetts State Preservation Projects Fund; approval of the Massachusetts Historical Commission was required as well.

Since that time Boston Sash and Millwork, Inc. had its products and practices approved by historical committees throughout New England.  These include:

  • The Beacon Hill Historical Society
  • The Back Bay Architectural Commission
  • The Cambridge Historical Commission
  • The Boston Landmark District Commission
  • Providence Historical District Commission
  • Nantucket Historic Commissions
  • Newport Historical Society
